August E. “Gus” Terschuur, 75, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 due to complications from Diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” Terschuur for 46 years.
Born April 6, 1937 in Bussum, Netherlands, he was a son of Jacoba and Jacobus Terschuur. He served with the Dutch Army under NATO in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1959, becoming an American citizen in 1964.
Gus was a licensed pilot and GMC mechanic but spent most of his life as a pharmaceutical salesman in California and Maryland. His hobbies included woodworking and welding. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle in Holland and various points in Europe, as well as the deserts of California. He also enjoyed touring art and science museums with his wife, Peggy, and together they attended the Hanover First Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Gus is survived by his sons, Gregory and Robert, and his wife, Holly; a daughter, Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Samuel, Clara and Jacob; and his brother, Robert, who still lives in the Netherlands.
A memorial service will be held 11:00am Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Hanover First Church of God with The Rev. Jerry Shoap officiating.
