Gloria Jean Dubs Stine, 95, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Country Meadows Retirement Communities- South. She was the widow of Marvin D. Stine, who passed away on April 17, 2017.
Gloria was born on Friday, April 8, 1927 in Hanover to Merle and Myrna (Haar) Dubs. She graduated from Eichelberger High School in 1945 and then went on to graduate from York Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin, on December 11, 1948 and was the head obstetrics nurse at the Hanover Hospital until moving to York in 1960. Thereafter, she was a private duty nurse and later worked part-time in the offices of the Bonton. Gloria enjoyed golf at the Country Club of York, winters in Naples, FL, playing bridge, and helping care for her grandsons.
She is survived by her daughter, Randi McCullough and her husband, Gerry (Bud); her grandsons, Ryan McCullough and his wife, Christina, and Chase McCullough and his wife, Hannah Beard; three great grandchildren, Cole, Maeve, and Flora. She was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Shawn McCullough.
Gloria was a huge animal lover and referred to all of them as “the dear souls.” She fed birds, chipmunks, and foxes in her yard. She will be missed by her cat Nala. No matter what annoying thing any animal would do, she and Marvin would say “they’re just trying to make a living.”
The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care and Deanie King’s Home Care agency. We especially would like to thank Mom’s earthly angels Falon Mason, Deb Klinefelter, and Jess Alter for their unparalleled care and compassion. We could not have done it without them.
A private grave side ceremony is planned.
