Gladys R. Geisler, 87, formerly of Hanover, died on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg.
Born on April 9, 1925 in York, she was one of fourteen children of the late George D. and Hilda K. Aldinger Rupp and wife of the late Paul R. Geisler. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Charles, Elwood, Eugene, John, Harold, Carl, David and Robert Rupp and a sister, Dora Small.
She had been employed by Hanover Shoe for many years before her retirement in 1990. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was fond of animals and spent time gardening and tending her flower beds.
She is survived by her two sons, William Geisler and his wife, Nancy of York Springs and Ronald Geisler of Hanover; two daughters, Dora Deneen and her husband, Mike of McConnelsburg and Joyce Ratliff of York; three grandsons; a brother, George Rupp and three sisters, Nancy Rinehart, Mildred Trimmer and Mary Erb.
The funeral will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with Chaplain Daniel Summers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Avenue, York. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
