Gladys W. Brandt, 82, of Hanover, entered the Church Triumphant on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Thursday, February 22, 1934 in Hayes County, Nebraska, she was a daughter of Edward J. and Anna Ahlert Wittwer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert E. Brandt, who died in 2015. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education for the University of Nebraska in 1954 and was very active in the Harford County Piano Teacher’s Association.
Gladys was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she was active with WELCA and SAW, and was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, MD. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, and volunteering in the community and her churches. She always took great pleasure in spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Aikens and her husband William G. Aikens of Salem, SC, and Janet Blackwell and her husband, Jeff, of Bel Air, MD; five grandchildren, William E. Aikens, Catherine Harris, Jennifer Aikens, and Robert and Christopher Blackwell; three great-grandchildren, William T. Aikens, Jeffrey R. Blackwell and Stephanie Aikens; and a sister, Leola Alberts of Palisade, NE.
The funeral will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday at Harford Memorial Gardens in Havre de Grace, MD.
