George L. Neidhardt

George L. Neidhardt, Jr., 73, loving husband of Lea Neidhardt of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Hanover Hospital.

Born on Thursday, December 12, 1940 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late George L. Neidhardt, Sr. and Rosemarie Buettner Neidhardt. He was also preceded in death by a step-son, Garrett Balog.

Mr. Neidhardt received his master’s degree in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He was an engineer with Raytheon for many years and later retired from Willcor, Inc. in 2010. He was a volunteer with the Southwestern Regional Police Department and was a member of Patmos Lodge #348 F&AM and the Central Penn Scottish Rite Club. He enjoyed modeling airplanes, and trains with their landscapes. He also took great pleasure in driving on sightseeing trips.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Geoff L. Neidhardt of Reston, VA; a sister, Joan Hamilton and her husband, Frederic, of Abingdon, MD; two step-daughters, Lindsay Marshall and Jennifer Wilson; two step-sons, Thomas Marshall and Chris Balog; and six step-grandchildren, Janine and Julia Marshall, Kara, Ashley and Robby Wilson, and Brenner Balog.

A Masonic service will be held at 5:00pm Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. The family will receive friends until 7:00pm at the funeral home and afterwards at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southwestern Regional Police, 6115 Thoman Drive, Spring Grove, PA 17362 or to the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, 300 Highland Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
