George John Minarik, 90, of Hanover, beloved husband of Gloria Lee Turner Minarik, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at SpiriTrust Retirement Village at Utz Terrace following a brief illness.
Born on Thursday, April 24, 1930 in Curtis Bay, MD, he was a son of the late Joseph Frank and Rose Katherine Zamostny Minarik. He was also preceded in death by a son, Craig Minarik, three infant sisters, two brothers, Joseph F., Jr. and Jerry Minarik. He was a 1947 graduate of Glen Burnie High School and retired in 1995 from The Great Atlantic Pacific Tea Co. following 51 years of service. He was a devout member of Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church for over 30 years, where he sang in the choir and chaired many committees. Following their move to the Hanover area, George and Gloria faithfully attended First United Methodist Church of Hanover. George loved to travel, enjoyed everything that involved golf or baseball, and cherished every moment with his family. He will be remembered for being a loving and kind gentleman who loved to give hugs and kisses. He gave wise advice and was trusted by many.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by a son, Bret Minarik and his wife, Tamara of Pasadena, MD; a daughter, Heather Kenny and her husband, Joseph of Hanover; six grandchildren, Craig Minarik, Tiffany Birner, Ashton and Shea Minarik and Gavin and Kira Kenny; three great-grandsons, Brodie and Jeric Black and Wyatt Birner; a sister, Mae Rose Wolford of Pasadena, MD.
Visitation will be from Noon to 3pm with The Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating a service at 1pm on Sunday March 7, 2021 at Kurtz’s Beach, 2070 Kurtz Avenue, Pasadena, MD 21122. In compliance with health and public safety directives, those attending the visitation will be asked to wear masks and maintain social distance. Interment will be private.
