George J. Marrero

George J. Marrero, 66, of Willis, TX and formerly of York County, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Conroe, TX.

Born on Tuesday, July 23, 1950 in Manhattan, NY, he was a son of Rayda S. Rivera of York and the late Jorge J. Marrero. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School, Philadelphia, in 1968 and had been a longtime employee of Honeywell International in York. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Locally, George was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where he was a past president of the church council and also sang in the choir. As a motorcycle enthusiast, he was an active member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He also enjoyed target shooting, photography, and driving for the Lutheran Touch-A-Life program.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Marrero; six daughters, Patricia Marrero-Thomas and her husband, Rickie, of Dover, Sarah Montgomery and her husband, James, of Windsor, Angela Marrero, JoNell Hendricks and her husband, Roger, all of York, Mary Marrero of Chicago, IL, and Rebeccah Marrero of Medford, MA; 16 grandchildren, Antoinette and Austin McMillion, Cayla Marquez, Tanner, Tomas and Miranda Coon, Robert, Sean and Aneilia Oliver, Alyanna and Jaylah Hendricks, Brandon and Elijah (Marrero) Bynum, Braxton, Aden, and Landon (Condray) Bynum; great granddaughter, Sophia Williams; a sister, Rayda Marrero Figueroa of Puerto Rico; five half-brothers, Domingo and Diego Rivera of York, and George Marrero, Luis and Raymond Gauthier of Philadelphia; and two half-sisters, Alma Marrero Rivera of Puerto Rico and Iris "Cookie" Torres of Philadelphia.

A funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends at viewings to be held from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 129 Charles Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
