George Raymond Chance, 63, of Hanover, husband of Victoria Wimpling Chance, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Hanover.
Born on November 6, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late George Robert and Elizabeth Shagoue Chance. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was employed as a DBA for B&O C&O railroad before working for Hanover Direct, Inc. for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Hanover YMCA and was active with the “Y Guys.” An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed cycling and hiking and considered himself an amateur videographer.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a son, Adam Chance of Lancaster; a daughter, Megan Jennifer Chance of Glenwood Springs, CO; a granddaughter, Mary Lin Chance of Lancaster; a brother, Brian Chance of MA; a sister, Susan Chance-Golden and her husband, Steven of Reisterstown, MD; nieces, Mariel and Christina Chance; a nephew, S. Michael Golden; and a sister-in-law, Veronica Marcia Pacitti.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Friday, August 31, 2012 at the North Pointe Community Building with a time to remember his life being held at 7 pm.
