Services: The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, May 29, 2009 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church Gymnasium with The Rev. John A. Szada officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation: The viewing will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with a Rosary Service being held at 8 pm.
George R. Calams, HanoverGeorge R. Calams, 84, of Hanover, husband of Joanne Specht Calams, died peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2009 in Hanover.Born on May 24, 1925 in Dennison, Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Irene Miller Calams. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Dennison and John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman in both World War II and Korea. He spent his entire career working in the direct sales and fundraising industry. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his children, Lila and Dick Weaver of Finksburg, MD and Christine and Charles Neri of Hanover; three grandsons, Christopher and Chip Weaver and Gregory Neri; a sister, Margie and Bill Whitmer and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
