Garnet Y. Kimmey, 94, formerly of Hanover, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Magnolias of Chambersburg.
Born on March 24, 1917 in Maple Grove, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Howard F. Yingling and Della Mae Coker Yingling Frock. She married Norman Kimmey on November 15, 1941 and celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to his death in August 2007. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth, Ethel and Helen and three brothers, Joseph, Arthur and Sterling.
She was a seamstress with Middleburg Sewing Factory and later was employed as a packer for Hanover House before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester and enjoyed spending time tending her flower gardens.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kelly of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Sarah Kelly of Gaithersburg and Kathryn Thompson and her husband, Thomas of Chambersburg; one great-grandson, Clayton Thompson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover with her pastor, The Rev. Matthew Schenning officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 pm on Friday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
