Frankie Lee Rutherford

Frankie Lee “Gunny” Rutherford, 66, of Hanover, beloved husband of Donna Kay Underwood Rutherford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Born on Monday, March 17, 1952 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Walter Frank Rutherford and Juanita Frances Claypool Rutherford. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he retired in 1992 from the United States Marine Corps after 22 faithful years of service to his country. Frankie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family especially the children and grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 45 years, are three children, Frankie Lee Rutherford, Jr. and his wife, Jonna, of Jacksonville, NC, Cara Seigman and her husband, Tim, and Chris Rutherford and his wife, Nicole, all of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren, Reesie, Tyler, Trever, Jayden, Levi, Lyvia, Gage and Aaron; and a sister, Zela Cook of Princeton, WV.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday, July 20, 2018 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
