Frank Hord Terhune, 86, of Hanover, died at his home on Thursday, March 25, 2021, with his wife Sarah of 63 years by his side.
A native of New Haven, CT, he was a son of the late Robert D. and Josephine Applewhite Terhune. Frank attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH near his family’s summer home, and following graduation, married Sarah Louise Rudy, who had attended a women’s college in NH. He later proudly served his country in the US Navy and attended the Navy’s Officer Candidate School, and was stationed aboard a radar ship patrolling the North Atlantic as part of the “Dew Line.” Following 3 ½ years in the Navy, he went into sales and was moved around the country several times before settling in Maryland. Frank and Sarah later moved to a retirement community in Hanover, PA and were members of All Saints Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two children of which he was extremely proud, Deborah Moore and her husband, Frank Hartley-Edwards, and Christopher Scott Terhune and his wife, Cynthia Lynn Roysdon; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Royall, Stephanie Walsh, David Royall, Colette Haynes, and Chelsea Wrenn; five great-grandchildren, Brody and Peter Walsh, Adam Royall, Lucy Walsh, and Emmett Royall; and a brother, Robert D. Terhune, Jr. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen C. Schauff.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the churchyard of All Saints Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the church memorial garden.
