Frances A. Rosensteel

Frances A. Rosensteel, 95, of Hanover, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center following a period of declining health.

Born on Sunday, January 16, 1922 in Bonneauville, she was a daughter of the late Cletus H. and Mary E. Rutters Clouser and loving wife of 66 years to the late Charles R. Rosensteel, who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Clyde, and Cletus Clouser, Jr.

Devout in her faith, she gave many years of service to area parishes. A longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, she was active with the Daughters of Isabella for over 20 years and had served earlier in her life as a den mother of the Cub Scouts. She later became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A giver by nature, she shared her love, her time and her friendly smile with so many. She volunteered for many years with Hanover Area Council of Churches PAL Lunch and the Clothing Bank. Gifted with her hands, she sewed pads for cancer patients and many quilts. She was a simple lady who was content with what she had and never wanted for more. Known as Gigi to the younger members of the family, she was a great cook, enjoyed traveling, and never said an unkind word.

Survivors include two sons, Richard J. Rosensteel and his wife, Sandra, and Robert W. Rosensteel; two daughters, Joyce A. Rosensteel and Patricia A. Pritt, all of Hanover; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 11 am Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Ryan M. Fischer and The Rev. Michael P. Reid, II concelebrating. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with a recitation of the Rosary being said at 8 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to the parishes that were so meaningful in her life, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331 or to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
