Frances G. Krichten, 86, of Spring Grove, died unexpectedly, on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD, while visiting her sister.
Born on Wednesday, April 20, 1927 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Louise Sullivan Shearer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Carroll J. Krichten, who died in 1983; and a sister, Betty L. Bream.
Fran was a 1945 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was a former employee of the Hanover Wire Cloth and of The Children’s Development Center in Abbottstown. Known to families and friends as Frances, Fran, Franie, Mom, Nana, Momma Nana, Gertie or Franci, she enjoyed life to the fullest and will always be remembered for her kind heart and supportive nature. She almost always remembered everyone on their special day.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Lee Kauffman, and her husband, Ray, of Chesapeake, VA, and Carol Zumbrum, and her husband, Chuck, of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Justin Kauffman and Melissa McFall Rivera, and her husband, Paul; one great-granddaughter, Mira Rivera; a sister, Nancy P. Ozdemir; sisters-in-law, Mil, Gloria, Janet, Gladys, Mary, and Sis; two step-grandchildren, Frank and Todd; six step-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and her ‘bestest’ friend since grade school, Mary Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held 1PM on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Rev. E. Edward Keyser officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Burial will be private in Rest Haven Cemetery.
