Fannie V. Putman, 84, of Hanover, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Penn State M.S. Hershey Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born on February 12, 1928 in Emmitsburg, MD, she was a daughter of the late Hiot Charles Snyder and Anne Belle Smith Snyder. She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Allen Putman; a great-grandson, Alec Swartz; a sister, Dorothy Smith; and four brothers, Edward, Sam, Lewin and Charles Snyder.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Keystone Wire Cloth and Hanover Wire Cloth. She attended First Baptist Church of Hanover and enjoyed gardening and watching things grow into their unique beauty. A lover of all animals, she had a special fondness for her dog, Reo.
She is survived by six children, Raymond E. Putman and his wife, Diana, Linda L. Rowland and her husband, Dayne, Marie A. Chapman and her husband, David, Marvin J. Putman, all of Hanover, Joann E. Azzarello and her husband, Vincent “Paul” of Edgewater, FL and John A. Putman and his wife, Cathy of York; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 4 on the way; four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; three sisters, Clara Flickinger and Sarah Elicker, both of Hanover and Elizabeth Blizzard of Littlestown and two brothers, Joseph Snyder of Shreveport, LA and Fred Snyder of Amarillo, TX.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with The Rev. Mark W. Rasnake officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
