Evelyn S. Jones, of Hanover, passed away on May 25, 2011. She left this world while being held in the arms of her husband, Dick. They have been married for 48 years. A stronger bond between two souls would be hard to find. They were lucky to have each other and enjoyed every moment of every day fully, with boundless respect, kindness, patience and love for one another. They lived a love story.
Evelyn has been a wonderful mother to three girls: Jennie, Laurie and Jessica. It gave her great joy to spend time with her children - gently teaching, guiding and caring for them with all of her heart. She was extremely proud of her grandsons, Jacob and Samuel. Evelyn had a special bond with Jessica’s husband, John, with whom many good times were shared.
Evelyn’s interests were limitless and life experiences many. She would always be ready to tell you a story, share a kindness, and be quick with a smile. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed working and researching on her computer.
Dick and Evelyn were partners, creating and operating Dick Jones Sales, Inc., a nationwide industrial equipment distributorship. For many years Evelyn also operated her pride and joy enterprise, Evelyn Jones Antiques and Surprises of New Oxford, where she enjoyed a clientele from near and far. Her extensive knowledge of, special interest in, and collections of carousel horses, majolica, oyster plates, silver and fine porcelains have afforded her a national reputation in some circles.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend – Evelyn provided joy and inspiration to the many lives she touched. She will always be the light of our lives. We shall miss her every day.
