Eugene A. “E.G.” Gladfelter, 78, of Abbottstown, beloved husband of Joyce M. Gladfelter, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home.
Born on Friday, May 10, 1940 in Biglerville, he was a son of the late Lavere and Ruth Bosseman Gladfelter. A retired employee of Black & Decker, he later became the owner and operator of EG Motors in Abbottstown. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and will be long remembered as being a car enthusiast.
In addition to his wife of 14 years, survivors include four children, Larry Gladfelter of Abbottstown, Brian Gladfelter of Felton, Jeff Gladfelter of York Springs and Doug Gladfelter of New Oxford; a sister, Carolyn Sadler of New Oxford; a brother, Howard Gladfelter of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Glass; a sister, Romaine Herring; and five brothers, John, Melvin, Ralph, Robert and Curtis Gladfelter.
The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1620 Youngs Road, Hanover.
