Enid Hoffer Leiter
Enid Hoffer Leiter, 90, beloved wife of Lewis M. Leiter of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, March 25, 2011 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born April 11, 1920 in Hagerstown, MD, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Ruth Grady Hoffer. A 1938 graduate of Hagerstown High School, she had lived in Southern California for 47 years before moving to Homewood at Plum Creek 19 years ago.
Mrs. Leiter was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church, and was a former member of the Hanover Garden Club, Hanover Historical Society, and the Hanover Country Club. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker but found time to serve in secretarial positions at several places her husband’s business took her.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 70 years, is her daughter, Lynda Olmsted of Sacramento, CA; two sons, Jeffrey Leiter of Dallas, TX and Lewis Leiter, Jr. of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday at the Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek, Hanover with The Rev. Douglas Smith officiating both services. There will be no public viewing.
