Emily R. Hoffman, 96, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at The Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Saturday, October 5, 1918 in Elizabethtown, she was a daughter of the late John and Barbara Markley Root. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clay Hoffman, who died in 1991; a sister, Ina Forry; a brother, John Root; and a great-grandson, Matthew Austin.
Mrs. Hoffman was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Eichelberger High School Class of 1936 and Soroptomist International of Hanover. Emily retired as manager of the S&H Green Stamps Store where she had worked for 26 years.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sonya Gordon and her husband, David, of Hanover and Jackie Brown and her husband, Donald, of New Oxford; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Monday, August 17, 2015 at Marburg Memorial Gardens, 2510 Grandview Road, Hanover, with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spiritrust Lutheran, The Village at Utz Terrace, 2100 Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA 17331.
