Eleanor M. Kerchner
Eleanor M. Kerchner, 90, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Thursday, January 3, 1924 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Monroe L. Baumgardner, Sr. and Helen M. Bechtel Baumgardner and wife of 58 years to the late Richard H. Kerchner, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Cluck; a grandson, Chris Smith; and a son-in-law, Michael Sagle.
Mrs. Kerchner retired in 1991 from Hanover Direct, Inc., and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York Street, Hanover. She was also a member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #762 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach and especially being with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally A. Sagle, and Linda J. Bigham and her husband, Ronald; a brother, Monroe L. Baumgardner, Jr.; two sisters, Dianne Albin and Ruthanna Dusman, all of Hanover; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Richard M. Olson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
