It’s amazing how one day someone walks into your life and you cannot remember how you ever lived without them.
Eleanor J. Cannon, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace.
Born on Tuesday, October 12, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Rakar Jacesko. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Cannon, who died May 6, 1998. They were blessed with 33 years of marriage. Eleanor was a devoted loving wife, aunt and friend. Eleanor worked as a receptionist in the medical field for many years until her retirement and became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church when she moved to Hanover. She spent countless hours volunteering at the Hanover Hospital. She was head chairperson, dare we say Queen, of the Gingersnap Gang, an exclusive social club lovingly named after her pug, Ginger. Neighbors would gather many evenings in the queen’s driveway sharing stories, laughing and getting into shenanigans. Eleanor had a beautiful singing voice, performing at weddings and the USO. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch admiring her magnolia tree, soaking in the sunshine and watching the birds. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Eleanor was a very special person who touched so many lives. She is loved and will be missed.
Eleanor is survived by her nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 24, 2023 at The Village at Utz Terrace, 2100 Utz Terrace in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
