Edward William Hannigan, Sr.

Edward William Hannigan, Sr., 92, of Baltimore, died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.

Born on Tuesday, December 16, 1924 in Baltimore City, he was a son of the late Charles William Hannigan, Jr. and Muriel Yvonne Tucker Hannigan and husband of 62 years to the late Eleanor "Elly" Florence Hannigan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hannigan.

A 1942 graduate of Southern High School, he served in the United States Marines during World War II as a medic in Japan. He later worked for B & O Railroad and a number of other jobs. Following his retirement, he enjoyed driving the bus for Wesley to take older people to their appointments. He loved people and never met a stranger. Extremely outgoing and always a hard worker, he enjoyed his part-time job as a bartender, where he could meet people and provide for his family. Ed was an intelligent man whose mind was sharp his entire life. He was a member of St. Augustine Church in Elkridge, the Lion's Club and the VFW.

He is survived by four children; Edward Hannigan, Jr and his wife, Sandy of Manchester, Paula Egan and her husband, Keith of West Chester, OH, Stephen Reese Hannigan and his wife, Linda of Annapolis and Ellen Donovan and her husband, Russell of Hanover; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four nephews and a niece and their families.

Services will be private.
