Earl W. Berwager, 95, formerly of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, October 6, 2014 in Louisville, KY.
Born on Monday, May 19, 1919 in Littlestown, he was a son of the late Emory J. and Mary Bair Berwager and was also preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Lloyd. He was a 1937 graduate of Eichelberger High School and served with the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Prometheus as a Gunner’s Mate. He retired in 1985 from the P.H. Glatfelter Company, and was a former employee at Leister’s Furniture and Little’s Dairy.
Mr. Berwager had been a member of Grace United Church of Christ since 1934 where he served as a deacon from 1964-65. He was also a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post # 14, VFW Post # 2506, Hanover Elks BPOE # 763, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 227, Republican Club, and McSherrystown Home Association.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Nadine Garvick Berwager; three children, Pat Lehigh and her husband, Bob, of Fort Myers, FL, Mike Berwager and his wife, Sandy, of Tyrone, PA, and Tom Berwager and his wife, Giselle, of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held.
