A memorial service for Rev. Szilagyi will take place in Hanover at a later date.

Rev. Dr. Anthony Szilagyi (affectionately known as Tony or Mickey), 58, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Fairfield, CT and Bridgeport,CT a faithful servant of God, was called to be by His side on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Hanover Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Nancy Abbott Szilagyi, and loving father to Amy (Christine) Szilagyi, of Fairfield, Anthony and Stephen Szilagyi, both of Hanover. He was the proud and caring grandfather of Carly and Sam Lello; brother of George Szilagyi and his wife Maryhelen of Bridgeport; uncle to David Szilagyi of Bridgeport; and great uncle to DJ Szilagyi. Born on June 4, 1948 in Styre, Austria, he was the son of the late Anthony and Helen Ruvarac Szilagyi. Rev. Szilagyi was a member of the Class of 1967 of Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, CT. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sacred Heart University, and continued his education at Lancaster Theological Seminary graduating in 1974. He received his Doctor of Theology Degree from Hartford Seminary. Rev. Szilagyi began his ministry at St. Matthews/Salem Stone UCCB, in Carlisle Springs, PA. He returned to Connecticut and served as the pastor of First United Church of Christ, in Bridgeport for many years. In more recent years, he moved to Hanover, where he became the minister of St. Paul's (Dubs) United Church of Christ. In addition to being a compassionate, dedicated minister, Rev. Szilagyi was a Mason and a licensed Realtor with Coldwell Banker . He was also active in the Calvin Synod United Church of Christ and the Gettysburg Association of the United Church of Christ. He was fascinated with trains, and was a member of the Housatonic Model Railway Club, Inc. He also enjoyed painting, was an avid guitarist, and golfer. Rev. Szilagyi had researched the histories of Hungarian ministers and churches and had hosted several Hungarian radio shows in Norwalk, Fairfield and Bridgeport CT. Well known for his sense of humor, Tony made friends easily. Many wonderful memories of him will be cherished by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren, and the many members of his congregations who had become his longtime friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14 from 4pm until 8pm at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, CT. His funeral service will take place at 11am Thursday at the First United Church of Christ, 717 Clinton Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. A Memorial Service of Remembrance in Hanover for Rev. Szilagyi will be held at a later date. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover is assisting the family with local arrangements.
