Dorothy E. (Broadback) O’Leary of Hanover, PA, passed away at age 93 on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.

Born on January 20, 1931, in Dover, NJ, to Edward B. and Jessie B. (Truscott) Broadback, Dorothy graduated from Dover High School in 1948 and completed courses at Dover Business College and County College of Morris. She was a housewife and mother to four daughters. She started her career as a secretary for the U.S. Army Research and Development Engineering Command at Picatinny Arsenal and later became an engineering technician through Upward Mobility Education. In Dover, she was a member of the Shade Tree Commission, Dover Area Historical Society, and First United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she collected, restored, and sold antiques.

After retiring to Hanover, PA, Dorothy continued life as an antique dealer. She was a member of the Hanover Area Historical Society, a docent at the Bonham House for the York Historical Society, a clothing bank volunteer and past Board of Trustees member for the Hanover Area Council of Churches, a Hanover Hospital Honorary Life Volunteer for 12 years, and a deacon and member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William D. O’Leary, in 1998; her son-in-law, David R. Conroy, in 2017; and her brother, Edward W. Broadback, in 2021.

Surviving her are four daughters, Sandy Lee (O’Leary) Fogarty of Fort Wayne, IN; Lynn Dee (O’Leary) Frost and husband, Scott, of Montague, NJ; Cassie Ann O’Leary of Hanover, PA; and Kathleen “Kate” Rachel (O’Leary, Conroy) Garland and husband, Barry, of Hanover, PA; ten grandchildren, Michael Trinneer, Stacey Gibbs, William Metz and wife, Alicia, Mathew O’Leary, Kari Fogarty, Samantha Frost, Rachel (Conroy) Guise and husband, Shawn, Alexandra Frost, Evan Conroy, and Isabella (Kapusta) Aubroeck and husband, Axel; and seven great-grandchildren, including Elson Guise of Hanover, PA.

Dottie was a storyteller, and all who knew her will honor her memory by retelling those stories to others.

Dot and Bill will be interred together at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, NJ, where they will continue their everlasting lives together in a room in God’s mansion.
