Dorothy E. Kohr, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Thursday, January 29, 1920 in Manchester, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul James Gross and Anna Mae Cunningham Gross. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 43 years, M. Luther Kohr, who died on June 18, 1988; a granddaughter, Emmaline Kohr; a brother, James Paul Gross; and a sister, Helen Elizabeth Diehl. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Manchester High School, and retired in 1983 from the Hanover Public School District, where she was a payroll clerk. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and will be remembered as a loving and caring person who was dedicated to her family and friends.
Survivors include three children, Elana Dehoff and her husband, Richard, Brenda L. Funke and her husband, Gerald, all of Hanover, and a son, Sidney J. Kohr and his wife, Ellen, of Glenville; seven grandchildren, Sarah Weigle and her husband, Thomas, Matthew Funke, Elliott Kohr and his wife, Leah, Elizabeth Spoonhour and her husband, Richard, Lorie Strickler, Marci Hemmann and her husband, Paul, and Jennifer Grove and her fiancé, Chance Miner; numerous great-grandchildren and twin great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy J. Davin; and a niece, Kim Blouse and her husband, Mel.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, Hanover with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends, at the church, one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery.
