Dorothy C. Boyd, 90, of Hanover, died peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.Born in Frederica, Delaware on August 9, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Hazel Carson Hazel. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jane Phipps and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Glenn. She lived in Florida for 22 years before moving to Hanover in October 1999. During World War II, she drove a tractor trailer for the United States Air Force, transporting airplane gliders from Dover AFB to NY. Given her short stature, she had to place blocks on the gas pedals in order to reach them. She is survived by her husband,William Jackson Boyd, her son James F. Dickerson, of Hanover; three grandchildren, James F. Dickerson, Jr. of Pasadena, Md, Diana Glenn of Hanover and Rebecca Kutsor of Owings Mills, Md; eight great-grandchildren, Jessie Glenn, Stephen Glenn, Amanda Prince, Michael Dickerson, Amy Dickerson, John Joseph Kutsor and Tyler Joshua Kutsor; and a sister, Evelyn Robinson of Joppatown, Md.
