Doris C. Schwartz, 90, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Hanover Hall following a lengthy illness.



Born on November 11, 1920 in Mt. Joy, she was a daughter of the late Harry O. Baker, Sr. and Cora E. Wagner Baker. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry O. Baker, Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn Leppo and Ruth Wheeler.



In 1944, she married her sweetheart, Emory B. Schwartz, Jr. and on October 4, 2009, they renewed their vows after 65 years of marriage at First United Methodist Church, where they were members. Inseparable from each other, Mrs. Schwartz enjoyed traveling with her husband, whether it was to his US Navy ship reunions, bus trips or family reunions. Her love for her husband continued even after his death in March 2010. She enjoyed scrapbooking and clipping newspaper articles and was an avid collector of teddy bears.



Survivors include her son, Harry Schwartz and his wife, Anne of Thomasville; her daughter, Barbara Schwartz of New Oxford; her sister, Jean Leister and several nieces and nephews.



The funeral will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, with her pastor, The Rev. Thomas H. Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
