Doris Irene Ernst
Doris I. Ernst. 89, of Hanover, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness and subsequent rehabilitation.
Born on Wednesday, July 23, 1924 in Aspers, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Felicia Stark Asper and wife of 67 years to the late Rodney T. Ernst, who died 2010. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Maynard Asper and a sister, Evelyn Ernst.
A 1942 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she spent her life devoted to raising her family. A member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, she was extremely crafty and artistic; painting canvas and ceramics, making jewelry and completing puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Kreider and her husband, David of Lititz and Pamela Shipley of Hanover; two sons, Michael Ernst and his wife, Deb of Grove City, OH and Scott Ernst and his wife, Connie of McSherrystown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and special great-granddogs, Milo and Georgie.
The funeral will be held 10 am on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6 pm to 8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
