Services: The funeral will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Bouchard and Rev. Barbara Spies officiating. Burial will follow in the New Oxford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Herman, Wayne Spies, Donald Bowser, John Shorb, Kurt Culbertson, and John E. Herman.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Doris R. “Dotty” Herman, 84, of New Oxford, wife of John R. “Dick” Herman, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Cross Key Village – The Brethren Home Community.Born February 7, 1924 in Abbottstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Rachel Miller Bowser. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Donald Bowser; a sister, Miriam Hamme; and a nephew who passed away recently, Gene Bowser.Mrs. Herman was a 1942 graduate of New Oxford High School and was a former employee of Bear’s Department Store in York before working at Montgomery Ward in Hanover. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Hanover for more than 50 years. As she had a love for music, she took great pleasure in playing the organ. She also enjoyed flowers.Surviving, in addition to her husband of nearly 61 years, is a sister, Margaret Grim of York and several nieces and nephews.
