Donald L. Simpson, 76, of Littlestown, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at his home.
Born on Saturday, July 19, 1941 in Sunbury, he was a son of the late John F. and Emma J. Gass Simpson. A graduate of Northumberland High School, Donald went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. Later, he was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 27 years until his retirement. He was previously a coach of the former Gettysburg Big Little League for many years and a former President of the Adams County SPCA. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gettysburg, the Good Samaritan Lodge #336 F&AM of Gettysburg, The Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, and a former member of the Gettysburg American Legion Post#135. He was also a life member of both the Moose Lodge #826 of Galeton, PA and of the former Gettysburg Elks Lodge before they disbanded.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Susie L. Simpson; five brothers and sisters; three nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews; one great-great nephew; and special friends from the old Gettysburg police barracks.
Following cremation, a private service is planned.
