Donald R. “Don” Hockensmith, 82, of Hanover, beloved husband of Hilda L. Hockensmith, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Sunday, July 28, 1935 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Naomi Marshall Hockensmith. He retired after 35 years of service from the P.H. Glatfelter Company where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Don was also a member of the McSherrystown Home Association and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Skilled with his hands, he also enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, are three children, Randal Hockensmith and Ronald Hockensmith, both of Hanover, and Susan Hockensmith and her spouse, Jackie, of Waldorf, MD; two grandchildren, Shannon H. Delp of Mooresville, NC and Nicole D. Hockensmith of North Wilkesboro, NC; four great-grandchildren, Alanis E. Delp of Mooresville, Zachary C. Linville of Roaring River, NC, Waylon C. Wyatt and Luke T. Wyatt, both of North Wilkesboro; and a special aunt, Betty Marshall of Hanover. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Paul "Bud" Marshall.
Following cremation, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
