Donald J. Neiderer, 87, of Hanover, beloved husband of Shirley Dubbs Neiderer, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Friday, August 24, 1928 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Norbert G. and Arline Billman Neiderer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred L. Neiderer; and a sister, Jean Smith. He was a 1946 graduate of Eichelberger High School and later received an Associate’s Degree from the Thompson Business College.
A US Army veteran of the Korean War, Donald was a retired computer programmer and analyst for Black & Decker. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of the Hanover Elks BPOE Lodge #763, the Republican Club, and the Knights of Columbus – Hanover Council 871. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt. He also enjoyed playing bridge and was a big fan of Penn State athletics.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 64 years, are five children, James A. Neiderer and his wife, Ruth, Daniel K. Neiderer and his wife, Pamela A. Neiderer, all of Hanover, Andrew M. Neiderer and his wife, Mary, of Ellicott City, MD, Timothy J. Neiderer and his wife, Pamela Balek Neiderer, and Donna Jo Gebhart and her husband, Robert, all of Hanover; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and her husband, Ian, Heather Bair and her husband, Scott, David R. Neiderer and his wife, Jess, Karen A. Neiderer, Theresa Borne and her husband, Sean, Jacob M. Neiderer, Benjamin K. Neiderer, Bryan J. Neiderer, Lauren A. Neiderer, and Cole and Beau Gebhart; five great-grandchildren, Evan Brown, and Liana, Jacob, Grace and Benjamin Neiderer; and two brothers, John L. Neiderer and his wife, Carlynn, and Richard Neiderer.
A funeral will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June, 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, with The Rev. Ryan M. Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
