Donald L. Louey, Sr., 84, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Sunday, October 4, 1931 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ellen Wonder Louey. He was also preceded in death by his first wife in 2007, Dorothy Perry Louey, whom he was married to for 56 years; and a brother, Robert Louey. He was a US Army veteran and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Mr. Louey retired as a Budget Analyst for the Social Security Administration, where he had worked for 31 years. He was a member of the Hanover Elks BPOE Lodge #763 and the Palestine Lodge #189 AF & AM in Catonsville, MD. He loved football and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. He also enjoyed playing poker.
Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Faith Serio Louey; two children, Mary Beth Parks of Las Vegas, NV, and Donald L. Louey, Jr. and his wife, Mara, of New Market, MD; four grandchildren, Donald L. Louey, III, Daniel T. Louey and his wife, Amber, Bradley L. Ring and his wife, Jennifer, and Elisa L. Stephens and her husband, Marc; two great-grandsons, Chase Louey and Brayden Ring with another great-grandson, Cooper Louey, to be born in September; a step-son, Christopher Conrad Serio of Pasadena, MD; a sister, Patricia Zumbrum and her husband, Russell, of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Mount View Cemetery, 2030 Mount View Road, Marriottsville, MD with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
