Donald Heilman Fisher, Jr., 66, passed over into Spirit on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home in Hanover with his wife, Chris, by his side.
Born on Monday, April 9, 1951 in York, he was the son of the late Donald Heilman Fisher, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Gobrecht Fisher. He grew up and lived all of his life in Hanover and was a 1969 graduate of Hanover Senior High School. Don served in the US Army National Guard and Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976. He worked with his father at the family business, Collins Concrete Products. Upon his father’s death, he became the third generation to run the company until its sale in 1990. He later worked at HPC Global until his retirement. He greatly valued the contributions of the employees he oversaw and worked with their best interests in mind.
Don was a loving, kind and caring husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed nothing more than time spent with his family. An avid animal lover, he was never without a dog or cat by his side. He always said that all he needed in his life were his wife, his children and his pets, all of whom loved and cherished him. He enjoyed golf, NASCAR racing, and most of all, scuba diving and warm sunny weather.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years and love of his life, Christine Marie Staub Fisher; two children, Neil Eric Fisher of Frederick, MD and Sabrina Anne Meyers and her husband, Joe, and granddaughter, Emma, all of Escondido, CA.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
Memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
