Dennis C. Brown, 93, of Hanover passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, October 3, 2011.
Born April 27, 1918 in Bittner, PA, he was a son of the late Noah and Frances Wentz Brown, and was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pauline E. Brown, who died in 1999. He was the last surviving of 13 siblings.
Mr. Brown was the Vice President of Operations for the former Thomasville Stone & Lime and Medusa Corporations. He was a World War II veteran having served with the US Navy aboard the USS Redfin (SS-272). He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and was a life member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, the Loyal Order of the Moose of Hanover, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1406. He was a past member of the Helsel Hunting Club in Williamsport.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise S. LaBella of Hanover; two grandchildren, Stephanie LaBella-Luke and her husband, Dave Luke, of Madison, WI, and Corbin LaBella of Taos, NM; and a great-grandson, Max Luke of Madison, WI.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 9, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. The family will receive friends 1-2:00 pm Sunday in the church parlor. Burial will be private with military rites being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
