Debra K. Mumma

Debra K. Mumma, 70, of both Hanover and St. Marys, GA, passed peacefully at Hospice of Golden Isles on Thursday, August 18, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Deb was the wife of Dave Mumma with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Ruthetta (Bankert) Jones. In addition to her husband, Deb is survived by two children: Dr. Bryn Mumma and her husband, Dr. Kuang Jen, of Sacramento, CA and Major Shea Mumma (USAF) and his wife, Hannah, of Papillion, NE. Also grandsons Bryce and Lyell Jen and Kale and Rowan Mumma will greatly miss their Naini and all the handmade greeting cards and special gifts from Deb. Deb is also survived by a sister, Wendy Fritz and her husband, Jeff.

Deb was a graduate of Shippensburg University and taught in the Southern York County school district for seven years. After leaving teaching, she was a devoted mother to Bryn and Shea, diligently preparing them for their success as they became young adults. Deb volunteered for many organizations and served on the board at the Hanover Area YMCA where she was an active member.

Upon arriving in St. Marys, GA 15 years ago, Deb could be found playing pickleball with her many friends and taking long walks through the Osprey Cove community. She very much enjoyed the beach, whether it was a day at Fernandina Beach with friends or trips with the family to her beach house in Corolla, NC on the Outer Banks.

A celebration of Life will be held at The Club at Osprey Cove in St. Marys on November 6 and a memorial service at St. Bartholomew’s United Church (ELCA) in Hanover on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 3:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the University of Florida and the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL for their outstanding care and treatment of Deb the past 19 months; and lastly, Hospice of the Golden Isles for their compassionate and caring attention to Deb the last two weeks of her beautiful life.

Contributions in Deb’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Pkwy, Brunswick, GA 31525 or the Hanover YMCA, 500 N. George St, Hanover PA 17331.
