Deborah Ann Staub Chronister, 62, of Spring Grove, wife of Neil R. Chronister, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at her home following a brief illness.

Born on Sunday, May 20, 1951, in Hanover, she was a daughter of Janet Markle Geiselman of Hanover and the late Richard B. Staub. She was preceded in death by her step-mother Barbara Staub. A 1969 graduate of Hanover High School, she furthered her education at York College, earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was employed by area hospitals as a Registered Nurse for many years and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. She had a servant heart and loved to volunteer in the children’s nursery at Hanover First Church of God, where she was a member. She also enjoyed working with her hands whether it be while sewing or crocheting and knitting or working in the flower or vegetable gardens.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kevin Byers and his wife, Brita of East Berlin and Brian Byers and his wife, Jennifer Sites of Hanover; a daughter, Becky Herring and her husband, Mike of Gettysburg; two step-sons, Tim Wilt and Neil Chronister, Jr., both of Dallastown; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Staub and her companion, Ellen Criswell of Phoenixville; three brothers, Richard Staub, Jr. and his wife, Holly, Dennis Staub and his wife, Denise, all of New Oxford and John Geiselman, III and his wife, Angela of Hanover; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday, April 21, 2014 at Hanover First Church of God with Pastor Jerry Shoap officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 9 am to 10:30 am Monday at the church.
