Dean A. Morey, 81, of Hanover, beloved husband of Christine Leathery Morey, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
Born on Friday, August 15, 1941, in Sandusky, OH, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Lanore Fanny Vessy Morey. A 1960 graduate of Sandusky (OH) High School, where he was a state champion wrestler, he attended The Ohio State University, where he continued to wrestle on a collegiate level. Dean retired from Envirite Corporation in York after 26 years of service. He later found his true passion as a school bus driver for F&S Transportation in Pennsylvania and Maryland and was known to the children he drove as “Mr. Dean.” A member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and a former member of the Calvary Episcopal Church in Sandusky, he enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, and umpiring for PIAA and American Legion baseball.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 24 years, are his three daughters, Deanna Weyant of Lewistown, Michelle Pearson and her husband, David, of Felton, DE, and Lisa Enright and her husband, Cole, of Dover, DE; two step-daughters, Sherry Moschella of Harrisburg and Catherine Maley of Dover, DE; a step-son, Michael Klunk and his wife, Carrie, of Hanover; six grandchildren, Robert Bowers and his wife, Qui’va, Cory Bowers, Zachary Pearson and his wife, Alexa, Emily Pearson, Elizabeth Enright, and Andrew Enright; five step-grandchildren, Meghan Teed and her husband, Mark; Ryan Klunk, Jason Kretz, and his wife, Amy, Alex Moschella, and Rocco Moschella; four great-grandsons; and a sister, Mary Routon of Church Point, LA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Bobby, Frank, and Gordon Morey, a sister, Clara Bartels, and Tom Moschella, husband of Sherry.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover, with Pastor Jeffrey C. Reaver, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
