David L. Mummert, 68, of East Berlin, husband of Nancy Baber Mummert, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Gettysburg Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on August 31, 1944 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Leroy J. and Florence Bricker Mummert. Under David L. Mummert General Contractors, he built homes in the Hanover area until 1985, when he focused on another business venture, Dave’s Auto Sales in East Berlin. Along with his brother, he built Harvest Time Temple, of which he was a member and where he enjoyed playing the guitar. Skilled with his hands and attentive to detail, he engraved license plates and dogtags. He liked to travel to Florida and enjoyed flea markets and craft shows.
In addition to his wife, of 48 years, he is survived by two sons, Dean L. Mummert and his wife, Susan of Glenville and Larry L. Mummert and his wife, Melissa of Hanover; four grandchildren, Lauran Mummert of Glenville, Megan Edelin of Hanover, Hannah Mummert of Hanover and Corey Mummert of Glenville; two great-granddaughters and a brother, Lester E. Mummert and his wife, Judy of Spring Grove.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Mummert, Jordan Edelin, Steve Mummert, Sr., Steve Mummert, Jr., Norman Stambaugh and Greg Mummert. The family will receive friends at the viewing from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday evening at the church.
