David B. Mcintyre

Dr. David B. McIntyre, 83, formerly of Ellicott City, MD, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at home after a long illness.

Born May 13, 1929 in Westernport, MD, he was the son of the late William Gunning and Marguerite Beck McIntyre.

He received his B.S. from the University of Maryland and his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He served his internship and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD. From 1956-58 he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp.

He established his private practice in obstetrics and gynecology in Baltimore, where he practiced for 32 years. In 1972, he served as the President of the medical staff at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. He held memberships to the American Medical Association, Baltimore City Medical Society, Maryland OB/GYN Society, and the Southern Medical Association.

He enjoyed reading, camping, playing poker, listening to jazz music, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and loyal dog, Eva. He was a wonderful man, physician and surgeon, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was dearly loved by his patients, family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 51 years, Denise Darvis; his six children, David B. McIntyre, Jr. of Damascus, MD, Rebecca McIntyre Welsh and husband Jim of Hanover, Robert A. McIntyre and wife Ada of Littlestown, John C. McIntyre and wife Karen of Downington, PA, Alison McIntyre Kidd of Hanover, and Amy McIntyre Reagoso and husband Frank of Chadds Ford, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jimmy, David, Emily and Abbey Welsh, Katie McIntyre, Morgan McIntyre, Jared Kidd, and Isabella and Dominick Reagoso; and a sister, Helen Hill of Shepherdstown, WV. He was predeceased by William and Kenneth McIntyre.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon Thursday, March 21, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, with The Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
