He was a member of the first graduating class of South Western High School in 1961 and immediately started his career as a mechanic. He loved cars and trucks and had a passion for International Harvester Company. He was a collector of the IH Scout and won many awards at Car Shows. Having an eye for detail, he painted cars and trucks and occasionally restored older vehicles. He turned his truck patch into a vegetable garden because “you can’t eat flowers” that boasted 200 ft rows. The garden produced enough food to feed his young family as well as friends and neighbors. In his younger years, he was a Boy Scout and enjoyed roller skating at Forest Park. He loved German Shepherds, cats, shoofly pie and ice cream, but his greatest fondness was of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two sons, David H. Leppo, Jr. of Spring Grove and Jeffrey A. Leppo and his wife, Patricia of New Oxford; a daughter, Cynthia A.
