David F. Humbert

David F. Humbert, Jr., 88, of Hanover, beloved husband of Virginia S. “Stevie” Humbert, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home.
Born on Saturday, January 21, 1928 in Hanover, he was the son of the late David F. Humbert, Sr. and Hilda Troxell Humbert, and was also preceded in death by three sisters, Naomi Karterman, Ruth A. Leister and Kathleen Wilber.  He was a 1945 graduate of Eichelberger High School and served with the US Army Air Corps.
David was the founder of Shultz Foods in Hanover and operated the business for 44 years until retiring in 2007.  He and his wife were supporters of many community organizations, and he was an avid member of the Classic Car Club-Chesapeake Region.  He was a former member of the Hanover Country Club and the Hanover Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge #763.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 66 years, are three sons, David F. Humbert, III  of York, Daniel W. Humbert of Bonita Springs, FL, and Thomas M. Humbert of McKinney, TX; and a grandson, Addison T. Humbert of Harrisburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be held privately at Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
