David L. Croghan, 56, of Hanover, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan to a foreign service family, he spent his early childhood in Burma, Korea, the Philippines and finally in London, England. He entered the US Army and served with the 82nd Airborne Division and participated in Operation Urgent Fury. After his military service, David obtained his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Maryland and served in various positions in the education field. He became Director of Adult Education at Anne Arundel Community College and later became Associate Vice President at Frederick Community College. Gifted with his hands, he enjoyed making pottery and drawing. David’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lauri Croghan; two children, Kayla Colasuonno and her husband, Steven, and Aaron Croghan, all of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Abigail Anderson-Croghan, Tucker Croghan, Cora and Sloane Colasuonno, and Amelia Reese; two brothers, Daniel Croghan and his wife, Meredith, of Kailua, HI and Francis Croghan and his wife, Sachiko, of Millbury, MA; a sister, Delia Croghan and her husband, Joseph VanHouten, of Poolesville, MD; and nieces and nephews, Riley, Marie and Gillan Croghan, Amelia Kelly, Benjamin and Kathleen VanHouten, and Enzo and Allan Croghan.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, PA.
