David Buchanan

David Buchanan, 73, of Abbottstown and formerly of Rogersville, TN, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born on Saturday, April 5, 1947 in Erwin, TN, he was the son of the late Emmanuel and Vernia Bailey Buchanan. Gifted with his hands, he enjoyed wood working and carving. A skilled logger and carpenter, he built his own home. David was a faithful Christian and enjoyed reading Western novels.

Survivors include his three children, Jim Buchanan of Rogersville, TN, Deanna Rice and her husband, Walt, of Aberdeen, MD, and Jessica Ellis and her husband, Jamin, of Abbottstown; three grandchildren, Robbie and Zachary Rice, and Teagan Ellis; three sisters, Shelby Garland, Rosalie Long and Brenda Scott; two step-children, Angela Harville and her wife, Crystal, and Brad Harville and his wife, Stacy; a step-grandson, Seth Zaragoza; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Wolfe; and a grandson, Enzo Elijah Ellis.

A memorial service will be held at 4 PM Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Harvest Time Temple, 700 Black Rock Road, Hanover with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, those attending the service will be required to wear masks and observe social distancing.
