Dale Hoff
Dale Hoff, 77, of Hanover, husband of Debra Ann Neff Hoff, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at his home following an unexpected illness.
Born in 1936 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Curtis I. and Mary Huggins Hoff. A 1954 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he received his Bachelor’s degree in 1961 from Millersville University. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He spent his career in science education at Edgar Fahs Smith Middle School in York and served on the Hanover Public School Board for many years. Following his retirement from teaching, he joined the York County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff and later became a tipstaff for Judge Cheryl Dorney until his second retirement.
A lifelong and avid fan of baseball, he served as the Hanover Borough Little League Director and was also instrumental in getting lights installed at Moul Field. He was a true fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was a member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763, lifetime member of the Hanover AMVETS Post 22 and enjoyed hunting and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Joi Hoff Spangler and her husband, Jack of Oak Ridge, TN; two grandchildren, Adam Spangler of Louisville, KY and Morgan Spangler of Oak Ridge, TN; a brother, Curtis D. Hoff and his wife, LeDora of Hanover; a sister-in-law, Sandy Hoff of Hanover; a stepdaughter, Dondee Sponseller Ganev and her husband, Ivan of Avondale and three step-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will be held privately in Roth's Trinity Reformed Church Cemetery in Spring Grove with military graveside rites being rendered by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
