Dale A. Baker, 72, husband of Nina Baker, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2013 with loved ones by his side after a long illness at Hanover Hospital.
Born in Hurley, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Albert and Esther Baker. He was also preceded in death by a son, Brent Baker.
Dale served with the United States Navy and received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Economics from Wisconsin State University in White Water, WI in 1966. He was a member of Annunciation BVM Church in McSherrystown, Hanover BPOE # 763, McSherrystown Loyal Order of the Moose #720 and was a former member of the Westminster BPOE #2277 and the Westminster Moose Family Center Lodge #1381. Dale loved fishing, hunting, and playing cards. He was well known for gardening and sharing his vegetables with friends and neighbors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Brian Baker, and companion, Shena Hill, of Taneytown, MD, and Dale Baker of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandsons; Brent, Bradley, and Chase Baker; and a sister, Gale Boggio, and her husband, Mike, of Michigan.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Lawrence Sherdel officiating. Burial will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
