Services: The graveside service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Rest Haven Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth S. Heasley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation: At his request, there will be no viewing.
Crosby C. Gobrecht, 82, of Hanover, husband of A. Jane Shearer Gobrecht, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 at his home.Born August 19, 1926 in Gettysburg, PA, he was a son of the late Clayton and Frances Sterner Gobrecht, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Fisher. He retired after 38 years of service with Utz Quality Foods, and was an employee of Panebaker Funeral Home.Mr. Gobrecht was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where he served as Secretary and for 20 years was a Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of AMVETS Post 22 and the Hanover VFW. He served with the US Army as a sergeant in the 32nd Infantry Division in the Pacific theatre during World War II, seeing action in the battle of Luzon, Philippines. For his service, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Medal with one star and one arrowhead, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the Army Occupation of Japan Medal.Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, is his daughter, Kobie Klunk and her husband, Joseph, of Hanover; a granddaughter, Kelsey Klunk and her fiancée, William Simmons, of Frederick, MD; a sister, Phyllis Warner of Hanover; a brother, Rodney Gobrecht of Reisterstown, MD; and many nieces and nephews.
