Conrad Bower Richter

Conrad Bower Richter, 91, of New Oxford, husband of Carole Sue Amweg Richter, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Cross Keys Village- the Brethren Home Community.

Born on Saturday, December 31, 1932, in Millersburg, he was the son of the late Herman Henry Richter and Helen Margaret Barnhart Richter. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Richter Heaton; and his sister, Hermine Lenker.

Conrad was a United States Army Veteran and was a 1950 graduate of Millersburg High School. He went on to do undergraduate work at Shippensburg State Teachers College (Shippensburg University) and Penn State University and held a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He had a distinguished career in Pathology and Laboratory Animal Medicine to include the State of Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, The Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the National Institutes of Health, Duke University, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was the author and co-author of seventy-six scientific articles, book chapters, and abstracts and served as a consultant and adviser to numerous public and private institutions and industries.

Conrad loved military history, traveling the world, and spending time with his many friends at Cross Keys Village.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 49 years, are four daughters, Jennifer Richter, Samantha Pack and her spouse, Kevin, Kate Hull and her spouse, Dick, and Amy Richter and her spouse, Angie; 10 grandchildren, Karl, Brennan, Ryan, Alex, Andrew, Tyler, Allie, Mad, Amy, and Ian; and nine great-grandchildren.

Following cremation, services will be held privately.
