Clyde L. Garrett, 95, of Hanover, loving husband of Mabel Cool Garrett, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Friday, April 22, 1921 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Ralph A. and Bertha Sterner Garrett. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred N. Jones.
In 1986, he retired from C.W. Test Builders, Inc. after 39 years of service and was later employed by Norm’s Auction Services. Clyde was a life member of the Pleasant Hill and Parkville Fire Companies and was also a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church, the York County Fireman’s Association and the AARP # 2812. He was also a volunteer with the Hanover Area Council of Churches.
In addition to his wife of 71 years, survivors include a son, Dwight L. Garrett and his wife, Pamela, of McSherrystown; a daughter, Deborah S. Shaffer and her companion, Rodney Bixler, of Hanover; four grandchildren, Todd A. Garrett of Virginia Beach, VA, Nicole L. Mummert, Amber T. Dubs and Benjamin K. Shaffer all of Hanover; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery.
